WHEN I NORMALLY SIT DOWN TO WRITE MY DAILY "NOTE", I FIND SOMETHING CUTE AND FUNNY TO ADD TO IT. I AM A PERSON WHO LIKES TO LAUGH, JOKE AND HAVE FUN NO MATTER WHAT I AM DOING. I USUALLY CAN FIND HUMOR IN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING. NOT TODAY. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. NO ONE HAS MADE ME MAD. I JUST HAVE A VERY SERIOUS BURDEN ON MY HEART FOR SOME REASON THIS MORNING. THE WORD "FORGIVENESS" HAS BEEN ON MY MIND SINCE I WOKE UP.
I KNOW I HAVE DONE SOME SERIOUS HARM TO OTHERS IN THE PAST. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND IT HARD TO FORGIVE ME FOR THE THINGS I HAVE DONE. WHEN I FINALLY DECIDED TO LIVE FOR GOD, FORGIVING MYSELF WAS THE HARDEST PART OF ALL. KNOWING THE WRONGS I HAVE DONE TO OTHERS MAKES IT EASIER FOR ME TO FORGIVE WRONGS DONE UNTO ME. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?
EVERYONE HAS HEARD THE WORDS "FORGIVE AND FORGET." WE GO THROUGH LIFE KEEPING SCORE OF WHAT I DID, YOU DID, HE DID, SHE DID, THEY DID. SOMETIMES WE EVEN HOLD GRUDGES AGAINST THINGS THAT HAPPENED YEARS AGO TO SOMEONE ELSE. WE ARE ALL GUILTY OF DISLIKING SOMEONE FOR WHAT HE OR SHE DID TO A FRIEND OR A FAMILY MEMBER OF OURS. I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN OR HOW SOMEONE DID SOMETHING TO HURT ME. THERE IS NOT ROOM ON THIS SCREEN FOR THE LIST OF WRONGS CAUSED BY MYSELF OR BY OTHERS.
I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THE LORD HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO UNLOAD THIS HEAVY BAGGAGE. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR HIS TEACHINGS OF FORGIVENESS!
IN MARK 11:25-26, JESUS TELLS US "IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE, FORGIVE HIM, THAT YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN MAY ALSO FORGIVE YOU. BUT, IF YOU DO NOT FORGIVE, NEITHER WILL YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN FORGIVE YOU."
JESUS EVEN TELL US IN MATTHEW 18:22 TO FORGIVE OUR BROTHER NOT SEVEN TIMES IN ONE DAY, BUT "SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN TIMES IN A ONE DAY PERIOD." WOW...THAT MAKES ME FEEL ALOT BETTER. EVEN WHEN I WAS AT MY WORST, I DONT EVER RECALL HURTING SOMEONE THAT MANY TIMES A DAY!
I COULD INCLUDE SCRIPTURE AFTER SCRIPTURE ON THE TOPIC OF FORGIVENESS. JESUS MADE HIS FEELINGS REGARDING FORGIVENESS SO VERY CLEAR. THROUGH READING HIS WORD AND BELIEVING HIS TRUTHS, I KNOW THAT I CANNOT MAKE IT TO HEAVEN WITH UNFORGIVENESS IN MY HEART. I KNOW THAT I MUST NOT HOLD GRUDGES. EVEN FROM ON THE CROSS, AFTER HE HAD BEEN BEATEN, HUMILIATED AND CROWNED WITH THORNS, JESUS STILL ASKED HIS HEAVENLY FATHER TO FORGIVE OTHERS. IF JESUS COULD STILL FIND FORGIVENESS IN HIS HEART, SO SHOULD I.
THANK YOU LORD FOR SPEAKING TO MY HEART THIS MORNING
